Roy has been involved in the education practice since his graduation at Fontys (PTH) University in Eindhoven in 2004. He has experience in teaching courses on many subjects and on a variety of skill levels from secondary education to higher vocational education and professional MA degrees.

Currently Roy holds a teaching position at the Master of Interior Architecture (MIA) of the Utrecht University of Arts (HKU). Here he teaches architectural drafting & visualisation techniques, material & exploration lab programs and graduation counselling.

The Master Interior Architecture at HKU (HKU MIA) trains students to become interior architects who work creative, communicative and investigative within a dynamic/changing profession. HKU MIA has three pillars: human centered design, design research and design within a professional context.

We encourage students to take position in societal issues. Students are challenged to address these in their design process in close relation/collaboration with stakeholders and end-users. Students search for suitable and innovative design solutions; they examine, take a position and translate their ideas into convincing and feasible spatial designs.Students are trained to develop their own design tools, methodology and artistic-technical skills as part of a lifelong learning strategy.

Mieke teaches at Design Academy Eindhoven since 2012 at the Man & Activity department. Students work on a given assignment and discuss their progress on a weekly base. At the end of the semester students present their final results as well as their design process to a team of teachers. Students are being evaluated both on their design process as on their final result.
